Hi, my name is Christi. Welcome to Away From The Oven.
Away From The Oven is my blog for all things that are not baking, cooking or kitchen related. Those yummy things can be found on my other blog, Love From The Oven.
So what is this blog about? Life. Life that isn’t always covered in sugar and sprinkles. My life as… a mommy, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, adoption advocate, special needs parent, adult with adhd, dance mom, mom to a highly gifted child & someone who would really like a margarita. I am a part of what some call the “Sandwich Generation” – balancing the needs of my children with the needs of a parent, and often feeling like I don’t do a great job at either. Some days life seems simple. Some days life seems stressful at a manageable level. Some days life seems like pure and utter chaos. Writing has always been my therapy, how I process my world and the world around me and how I deal with it. That’s what this site is for – just a place to keep track of life, to vent about the challenges, celebrate the victories and store my thoughts, as they seem to leave my mind all too quickly.
I have two beautiful daughters who light up my world…
These are a few of my favorite things…
My amazing daughters, my fabulous friends and family, Open Adoption, Diet Coke, photography, watching my daughter dance, baking for friends and family, my iPhone & iPad, music, fries with ranch dressing, rainy days, a big fluffy feather pillow at the end of the day, broken in jeans, Dairy Queen Caramel Chocolate Chip Blizzards, 80′s hair bands, frozen margaritas with lots of salt, Bravo shows on my DVR, decorating for the holidays, riding The Nightmare Before Christmas version of The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, Amazon Prime, The Melting Pot, dark chocolate covered walnuts from See’s Candies, sarcasm, my cocker spaniel Milo & shih tzu Jack, sleeping in (or at least the memory of it), Facebook, the color pink, Marc Jacobs handbags and my husband doing the dishes.
Thanks for stopping by.
